Trafalgar Schools Federation

Music

Music is highly valued at Trafalgar School's Federation and we believe that it should be an integral part of every child’s education. Music not only gives great pleasure in itself but helps to develop happy, healthy individuals across our school community.

Our ambitious bespoke curriculum provides opportunities for celebrating creativity as well as enhancing learning across the curriculum as a whole and we have music specialists on our staff who co-ordinate all musical activities and provide discreet, weekly music lessons for all children from EYFS to Year 6 , thus ensuring progression and continuity of experience across the school.

Music is taught as an integral part of our half termly cross curricular themes and is linked to all areas of the curriculum and encompasses an understanding and exploration of the key elements of music.

Music forms part of the Expressive Arts and Design area of learning within the EYFS curriculum.

Additional music opportunities available include:

  • KS1 and KS2 choirs (performances include RMT Singing Festival at The Rose Theatre)
  • Weekly Music assemblies
  • Access to the Richmond Music Trust's Instrumental lessons
  • Wider Opportunities Brass lessons for Y4
